Privacy Policy
How Elodie handles local words, generation requests, billing and optional learning.
Last updated: 22 September 2026
Elodie is an accountless iPhone app from Remarcable VC Ltd. This policy explains what stays on your device, what is processed to provide the service, and what optional information you can choose to share.
Who is responsible
Remarcable VC Ltd (company number 16519626) is the UK data controller for Elodie. Contact us at Marc@remarcablevc.com.
What stays on your iPhone
Your future-self profile, saved affirmations, Future Glimpse and Apple app-selection tokens are stored locally. Apple’s app picker gives Elodie privacy-preserving tokens rather than a readable list of selected app identities. Those tokens are not sent in generation requests or data exports.
Generated words
Before sending a generation request, Elodie asks for your permission to share the information described below with Elodie and OpenAI. You can write and edit your own affirmations without AI writing. Turn AI writing off in Settings to prevent future generation requests. Turning it off cannot recall information already sent. This permission is separate from optional learning.
When you request generated words, your profile answers and a limited selection of existing lines are sent over an encrypted connection to Elodie’s Cloudflare Worker and OpenAI. Explicit edits, written and kept lines guide the voice; rejected lines and avoided phrases constrain later writing. If you ask Elodie to derive words from a kept Future Glimpse, that text is sent too.
Elodie does not save your profile or generated text on its service. OpenAI processes the request under its API data policies. A request configured not to be stored may still be retained by the provider for bounded safety purposes under those policies.
Service and billing data
Elodie keeps limited request and rate-limit metadata for up to 30 days. For subscriptions, RevenueCat receives an app-scoped random installation identifier and processes Apple purchase, receipt, offering and customer-entitlement information so Elodie can sell, restore and verify Plus access. For paid generation, Elodie’s service also processes a verified Apple transaction to confirm access. Subscription and purchase handling is subject to RevenueCat’s service privacy practices and Apple’s privacy policy.
Optional learning
Optional learning is off by default. If you turn it on, Elodie sends content-free counts to its own service on Cloudflare using a separate random consent identity. This identity is pseudonymous and is not your generation or billing identity.
Optional learning never includes your words, profile text, Future Glimpse, selected-app tokens, receipts, screenshots or raw errors. No activity from before consent is uploaded. Active consent records expire within 90 days.
Your choices
You can export or delete local data in Settings. Turning optional learning off immediately stops collection, clears queued counts and requests remote deletion. If deletion is pending, keep Elodie installed and reopen it while online so the request can complete.
Deleting Elodie data does not cancel an Apple subscription or erase records already processed by Apple, RevenueCat, OpenAI or Cloudflare under their own legal obligations and policies. Contact us to request deletion of personal data held through our service providers.
Tracking
Elodie does not use your data for cross-app tracking, third-party advertising or data brokerage.
Why we process information
We process generation requests, entitlement checks and requested support to perform our contract with you. We use minimal pseudonymous request and rate-limit metadata for our legitimate interests in securing and operating the service. Optional learning is processed only with your consent, which you can withdraw in the app. We may also process information where necessary to meet a legal obligation.
Service providers and international transfers
Cloudflare provides Elodie’s network and Worker infrastructure. OpenAI processes generation requests. RevenueCat processes subscription and entitlement data on our behalf. Apple processes purchases and provides platform services under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy. These services may process information outside the UK. Where UK data-protection law restricts a transfer, we use the applicable provider and contractual safeguards.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask to access, correct, erase or restrict your personal data, object to processing, or receive data you supplied in a portable form. Some requests may not apply, and Elodie’s accountless, pseudonymous design can limit our ability to identify records as yours. Contact Marc@remarcablevc.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Automated processing and younger users
Generated words and protection rules do not make legal or similarly significant decisions about you. Elodie is intended for people who can lawfully agree to its terms, or who use it with permission from a parent or guardian.
